The Gift of HelpAngel View Outreach
There’s no greater challenge than being the single parent of a child with a disability. Conflicting stressors make functioning nearly impossible for those without basic life skills.
This July, we’re adding a Family Stabilization component to our Outreach Program for children with disabilities. Our bilingual outreach specialists will provide critical training on calendaring healthcare appointments and arranging transportation, sharing time and energy with all children in the household, and budgeting/shopping to enable better food choices.
$10,000 helps us hire an administrative assistant.
$5,000 helps us educate parents.
$2,500 helps transport kids to medical appointments.
$1,000 helps purchase program supplies.
Timmy spent his childhood baffling the medical community. His digestive issues and seizure activity were so profound, doctors didn’t understand how he could still be alive. His mom devoted herself to medical research and finding a place that could care for her son. Between hospitalizations, he lived in various group homes in New York. At the last one, he had so many injuries his mom sought another solution. They headed west.
Since moving into an Angel View home, Timmy is calmer, more expressive, and has far fewer seizures. He loves the staff, his housemates, our therapy dogs and his word board. He’s so adored by staff, his mother says happily, “Now he has more than one mommy.”
