A Daily Feeling of Accomplishment
Angel View’s therapeutic Day Program provides weekday services to
eligible adults with developmental disabilities from the Coachella
Valley and High Desert. Designed to promote independence in a
center-based setting and in daily life, our program encourages
self-determination and self-advocacy, provides education and work skills
training, advances personal social skills, and increases integration
into the community.
We accept both ambulatory and non-ambulatory men and women age 22 and older. Transportation to and from the center is provided by Angel View in specially equipped air conditioned vans and buses. When needed, we provide restricted health care plans. Also, as needed, a licensed nurse is on staff at the Day Program during operating hours.
Thanks to donations from very generous benefactors, we were able to remodel two wings of our headquarters in Desert Hot Springs to allow the program to grow. Currently, 80 adults are enrolled but we will soon be expanding to 105.
If you have a loved one or friend who would benefit from this therapeutic program, please have them contact Director of Program Services Cindy Cliburn, Day Program Administrator Michele Hunsaker, or call us at (760) 329-6471.
Marlina, 39, with Down syndrome, knows what a difference a year makes. Just 18 months after moving into an Angel View home, she'd transformed in every way. Most significantly, through the help of our medical staff, dietitians, and caring house staff, she’s shed 90 pounds by eating more healthfully. She couldn’t wait to show off her new figure as a model in the 2016 annual Angel View fashion show.
Besides her weight loss, she’s more settled emotionally. Instead of tears, her smile lights up the room. Her ability to focus has dramatically improved, as has her ability to transition smoothly when staffers change shifts at her house. Marlina, our princess, loves frilly things, art and the visiting therapy dogs.
